On Saturday, September 13, 2025, Eagles Wings Network partnered with Glory of Christ Church to host a Food and Health Fair at Parkview Gardens Apartments in Riverdale, Maryland. This outreach provided practical support and compassion to families who often face barriers to access to food and access to healthcare.
A total of 135 people were served, many of them refugees and recent immigrants from Afghanistan, Somalia, Eritrea, and other underserved communities. For the attendees, this event provided groceries and health screenings.
Event Highlights
- Nutritious groceries: Families received free bags of food, helping address the urgent need for access to food in vulnerable households.
- Healthcare access: Volunteer medical professionals conducted free blood pressure and blood sugar screenings, ensuring attendees could take steps toward better health.
- Wellness support: Free healthcare products such as vitamins, and first-aid supplies were distributed to support ongoing wellness.
- Health education: Attendees received guidance on nutrition, disease prevention, and daily wellness practices, reinforcing the importance of health education.
